Injuries[edit]

Injuries happen randomly and are not tied to the real-life durability of your players. This means you must deal with unpredictable personnel demands like any owner/manager would. Here's how the sim handles injuries.

Since injured players can hurt your team, it is wise to deactivate them until they heal.

  1. A player's initial capacity following an injury cannot be less than 50%.
  2. The initial term of a player's injury cannot last more than 50 days.
  3. Rules 1 and 2 above do not apply in cases where the player has been played beyond the 105% maximum RPL or in cases where injured players have been forced to play and their conditions have worsened.
  4. Injured players will only improve when they do not play. If played, they will remain at their current capacities (see note below).
  5. Whenever you play an injured player there is a 1/10 chance per game that his condition will actually get worse.
  6. Pinch hitting counts as “playing.” Pinch hitters, like anyone else, will not be able to improve their capacities if they appear in a game. However, unlike players who must play the field, pinch hitters cannot get worse by pinch hitting.

Explanation of Rule 4 Above: Imagine that Willie Mays has an injury which puts him at 73% capacity and 36 days before he gains full strength. In this scenario Mays gains capacity by 0.75% per day (27% divided by 36 days). Now let’s imagine that Mays plays 5 out of the 7 days in your next game set. Mays’ capacity would improve to 74.5% and he would now be 34 days away from full strength.
